Use your voice for good
A few weeks ago, I listened to a conference about fasting from speaking. We live in a world in which there is so much noise. We are constantly being bombarded with noise from our phones, radios, televisions and so much more. But we are also constantly speaking. But have we ever truly reflected on what we are saying?
After listening to the conference, I have tried fast from speaking in my life and just listen more in my life to the people around me. When we fast from speaking, we can hear the other person better. We can hear their struggles better, we can listen to their joys, and we can truly have heart created to listen.
If we spend most of our lives doing all of the speaking, we will miss a lot. We will miss the voices of those who need to be heard. But most of all, we will miss God's voice in our lives.
Let our voices be used for good. Watch the things that you say. Stay away from gossip, from words that cause harm or damage to another person. Don't use the Lord's name in vain and use profane language. Those things cause our speech to become dirty and to decrease the quality of what we say. Use your words to build this world up.
I encourage you my dear sisters, try to fast from speaking unless spoken to. Allow your ears to be used as God's tool, to show the world that we care. That we are always there for those who need us to be that listening ear. Use your voice to spread goodness in this world and fast from the things that cause us to sin.
