Trusting God

Does anyone else feel the hate and anger all around? I know I do.

Every time I look at the news or go on social media, I see fear, anger, uncertainty, and lots of division among people. Even within our own church, there is so much division among its people (even among Priests and Bishops!).

Can we please take a moment and let out a collective sigh? Are you ready? I’ll count us down… 3, 2, 1:

It’s overwhelming. It crushes our spirit. It leaves our hearts heavy. ‘Indulging’ in this type of media honestly leaves me feeling like I need to go to confession. I can’t help but wonder, is any of this Christ-like?

I understand that there is righteous anger and there is even an account of our Lord feeling this way in the Bible.

And I want to make it clear: there is nothing wrong with FEELING angry. The sin occurs, when we act upon it in a way that is destructive to our relationship with God and others.

When we feel angry, are we lashing out at another person and attacking them? Are we letting ourselves sit in fear instead of trusting God? Are we allowing evil to conquer the hope Christ gives in our hearts?

These are all important questions and we must look into our hearts with honesty. What do we need to purge from our lives, our hearts, and our minds, today?

There is nothing wrong with us feeling hurt, angry, and saddened by what is going on in the world. I am sure that heaven is sad along with us. But let’s not allow ourselves to sit in those emotions. Let’s not allow those emotions to trickle into our hearts, our homes, and further deepen the state of darkness in the world.

Sisters, please remember, we are the Easter people! Let’s show the rest of the world that we will not fear and that instead, we will spread the joy, peace, and love of Christ to the world through our thoughts, words, feelings, and actions. Remember, it all starts with us and within our very own homes.

By answering our call to being true Disciples of Christ and aligning our hearts with this mission, we can change the world, one witness at a time.
