When we think about prayers associated with Mary many of us will automatically think of the rosary.
This week we wanted to focus on not only understanding why praying the rosary is so signifiant and can be very powerful but also share different rosary novenas that can help guide your prayers!
The word "rosary" in latin actually means "garland of roses" (Catholic Answers) which is very significant because one of the flowers which symbolizes Our Lady is in fact a rose.
The rosary is not simply just another prayer, but it is a specific type of devotion asking for the intercession of Our Blessed Mother. It consisted of 5 decades that are said starting with an Our Father, followed by 10 Hail Marys and a Glory Be. This repetition is very unique and purposeful because it is meant to be a meditative prayer.
Each decade should be meditated on a particular Mystery. There are 4 sets containing 5 mysteries each: Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious. One way that helped me with understanding how to meditate on these mysteries is as you are praying each decade, picture yourself in that particular scene with Mary. Where are you standing? What is happening? What is she doing? And as you walk through each Hail Mary, walk through that particular scene with her.
We invite you to check in this week as each of us will share different rosary novenas that have impacted our own lives
