Starting the day with God
My mornings are a little chaotic, and so it has always been really hard to get into a morning prayer routine. But I have applied some things into my routine, to be able to spend some time with the Lord right before starting my day. I wanted to share some practical tips with you today, to help you start the day off with the Lord.
For many of us, when the alarm goes off, we want to reach for our phones and check our notifications. But I want to encourage you to try to have the first thing that you do in the morning is to thank the Lord for giving you another day. Offer the day to God and thank Him for His blessings for the brand new day to start fresh.
Now, for some of us, it might not be possible to spend 30 minutes with God because we are running around getting ready. There have been a few things that I have added to my morning routine, to just make sure that my day starts with God.
I love having a couple minutes to go through a reflection on a daily quote from the Holy Bible. If you haven't already checked out the app called: Bible, I highly recommend it. Every day they have a daily reflection on a specific bible verse. It will allow you to reflect on God's word and to spend time with the Lord.
Another thing that I have recently started doing is turning on a Podcast called: Catholic Morning Offering Podcast. It is a fantastic podcast that leads you through some simple prayers, the daily readings and a saint of the day.
Lastly, just as St. Augustine said, "He who sings, prays twice!" Turn on those praise and worship songs, Gregorian chants or whatever songs you choose to worship God! Our voices are music to God's ears!
Praying for you!
