There was a time that the very first thing I would do upon waking up would be reach for my phone.
Talk about it not being the greatest way to start off your day.
From the moment of waking, I would bombard myself with the noise of the world. What messages did I get overnight? What's going on on social media? Did I get any calls? Let's check emails!
This inevitably set the tone for the rest of my day. And it was a shallow, hectic one at that.
It's the easy thing to do, though. It's a lot harder to wake up and after a night of resting, continue to want *silence*. But have we ever considered what waking up really is?
When we wake in the morning, it is another privileged day here on earth. It is yet another day that we have the opportunity to walk closer towards God. So many people don't get the same opportunity that very same morning. We are the lucky ones.
And so, when we wake in the morning, it is so important to take that in and thank God for the beautiful gift of waking. When you open your eyes, even before getting up, make the sign of the Cross. Thank the Lord for another day and invite Christ into your day.
A great prayer to start your day off with is the Morning Offering:
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all my relatives and friends, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father. Amen.
So, my sisters, how do you start your day off in the morning?
If it's not with prayer, I really hope that tomorrow morning you will reflect on how you can start your day off on the right foot...with Christ.
