"I'm thankful for the scars 'cause without them I wouldn't know Your heart"
I haven't done a #MusicMonday in a while but as I was working there was this one song that came up and I just had to share it with you all! The song is called "Scars" by I Am They. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMunQ5JXgKk
When we think about our scars probably the last thing we feel is thanksgiving. We probably feel pain, hurt, abandonment, or are reminded of those traumatic moments in our lives. Whether they are physical scars or emotional scars...the hurt is still there and is still very real.
There was one line in this song that really struck me:
"So I'm thankful for the scars
'Cause without them I wouldn't know Your heart
And I know they'll always tell of who You are
So forever I am thankful for the scars"
Our scars are more than just reminders of the past, they tell a story. But not just any story, they tell a story of who you are.
It is safe to say that we are all thankful for Christ's scars. There is no doubt in our hearts that we are thankful for them because we know what they mean, not only to us but to the whole world. The remind us of who Christ is and how there is saving grace in those scars, how much love there is in them.
Why are we not thankful for our scars? Why do we view our own scars as the enemy but are thankful for Jesus' scars?
Yes we can argue that Jesus' scars brought us salvation, but if we are all a part of His body is it not possible that our own scars can serve to sanctify our own lives or the lives of others?
I want you to take a moment today and give this song a listen. See what feelings come up when you think of Christ's scars...and then what feelings come up when you think of your own scars. Will you let them tell your story?
