God never ceases trying to draw us closer to Him

August 2011.

This was the year we had World Youth Day in Madrid Spain. It was my first full WYD experience! I had gone with a group from my parish and we spent the first week touring amazing holy places in France, Portugal and the Spain.

One of our stops was in Lourdes, France where Mary had appeared to St. Bernadette on February 11, 1858. I was able to go into the grotto where St. Bernadette saw Our Lady, see the beautiful Shrine that was built on top of it, and also see where St. Bernadette had scraped in the grotto and the spring of miraculous water flows to this day! There is a whole pipe system built now and the spring provides 27,000 gallons of water everyday since!

Today is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes. It made me think about that experience again and it reminded me how God uses miraculous moments like that to grab our attention. Sometimes it can be a big event, but other times it can be something very small.

God never ceases trying to draw us closer to Him. He knows what tugs at our heart, what brings us to those wow and awe moments. It is His way of "wooing" us, his bride.

Pray for the grace to always see those moments. Ask our Blessed Mother to help you draw near to her Son, to draw near to His heart.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.

St. Bernadette, pray for us.

Walking Together,
