Fuel for Our Souls
Many of us will spend this morning washing up, getting dressed, putting on make-up and doing our hair in preparation for the day ahead. Breakfast will physically fuel us, our commute will get us to where we need to be. And so our day begins...
Busy mornings often leave little time for slowing down and prayer.
Fuel for our souls is every bit as important as the other 'must-dos' in the daily routines of our morning. When there is no ability to slow down however, though we desire to do so, there are other ways to nourish our spirit.
If you have a long commute to work and take public transport, a wonderfully helpful tool for every Catholic is the 'Laudate' app on your smartphone. It's a free app and has all the resources you need to 'pray as you go'. It has podcasts, daily mass readings, a saint of the day, Bible passages, as well as pray-as-you-go rosary and so many more resources. It's a great thing to have when you are commuting and it doesn't need data to operate!
If you drive to work (like me), praying the rosary on the way to work is a great way to incorporate prayer into your morning routine. If you are unable to focus on both driving and praying, listening to Catholic podcasts is a great way to bring a bit of the heavenly realm into our morning.
And moments when it gets hard and you are exhausted, dreading the day ahead, unable to pray or listen to a podcast of any sort... Offer that moment up to the Lord. He loves you and is with you even in moments of weakness.
Remember, He thinks you're to die for.
