Don't be afraid to become like John!
Last week's gospel looked at the role of a very important figure in scriptures. We were introduced to John the Baptist. He played a key role in preparing people for the coming of Christ. In scripture, he proclaimed "I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him. The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete." John 3: 28-30
John the Baptist goes ahead of Christ to prepare the Church, Christ's bride for His coming. He is the best man who makes sure that everything runs smoothly before the wedding can occur. He makes sure that the bride knows how much she is loved by the bridegroom and helps her to prepare.
It's his voice that booms out in the desert, calling out to us to prepare! To get ready for the most beautiful wedding, between us the Church and Christ, Himself. He calls to us, to make sure that our hearts are ready to receive Christ.
Dear sisters, we have the same mission as John the Baptist in our world today. We have to be the voice, that will cry out into the desert that is our world today, that Christ is coming again! He wants to marry us continuously! We need to prepare our heart for the greatest romance and love.
Don't be afraid to become like John! Spread the good news that the Lord is coming! And let's pray that the world will be ready to receive Him.
Praying for you.
