Come Holy Spirit
My relationship with the Holy Spirit was never super tight. I didn't recognize him as much in my prayers like I would God the Father or Jesus Christ.
When I started speaking and working with high school youth, I began to run to the Holy Spirit a lot more and I came to realize his incredible power throughout my work!
Many times when we hear difficult stories or moments of vulnerability from others, we can get ourselves caught in a "speechless" moment. You want to say something to either comfort of encourage the person, but you just can't find the words. Or you want to pray for them or for a particular intention but you just find yourself at a blank.
This is where the Holy Spirit absolutely SHINES! He knows what words we want to say and how to say them in moments when we don't. By inviting him into this moment and just saying "Come Holy Spirit, be my words, be my thoughts, be my actions" you are giving him permission to work through you and do something incredible!
There are many times when I end up finding the perfect response and I have a moment of "wait...that definitely didn't come from me, I would have never thought of that!" It's because it wasn't you...it was the Holy Spirit working through you!
In whatever task you have today, start it by inviting the Holy Spirit into that moment and watch him work!
I also wanted to share a beautiful prayer by St. Augustine to the Holy Spirit which I use to start my studies with everyday:
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit That my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit That my work too may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, That I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, To defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, That I always may be holy.
