Be Grateful


How often do you find yourself comparing your life to others? How often do you wish you could fast forward or change something to be able to compete with others around you? What I have noticed in my own life, is that when I compare myself with those around me, I feel like I'm not where I wish it was. So many different desires and dreams that are not yet fulfilled. But what gratitude allows us to do, is to be grateful for where we are currently at. When I practice the virtue of gratitude, it allows me to see all the blessings that I have in my life. Instead of feeling upset by the things that I don't have, I am able to see the many blessings that are there. Here are some of the things that I am grateful for: I'm grateful for my family, friends and co-workers. I'm grateful for my health and that I am alive, and able to walk, talk, and eat delicious foods. I'm grateful that I can sing, hear beautiful melodies and dance. I'm grateful for my house, a safe place I can call my own. I'm grateful for opportunities to rest, but also opportunities to grow. I'm grateful for my supportive community of sisters in Christ. But most of all, I am grateful for a loving God, who never gives up on His daughter. We all have our own lists. If you are struggling with comparing yourself to others, and it makes you feel down, make a list of things you are grateful for.
