5 Love Languages
For my whole life, I had this idea in my head that I experienced and expressed love through physical touch. I think part of it was that, as a society we have told the world that the only way to show someone that we love them, is through the way we touch them.
The other day, my friend and I did the 5 Love Languages quiz and I was surprised to find out that my love language was not physical touch. It was the last way that I express and receive love. My friend kindly pointed out that I actually very rarely hug her and express my love through touch. While reflecting more on my love language, I came to realize was that I express love in service and showing others in gifts that are meaningful.
It's interesting to me how uniquely God created each and every single one of us. We all love and express love in such different ways, that makes this world so incredibly beautiful. If every person was acts of service, we would never hear from someone that they are proud of us. If every person was physical touch, then we would never have someone drop off groceries, when we are going through a tough time.
The way we all express love is so incredibly unique, because God's love languages encompass all of them. God is constantly dropping little gifts of grace. He comes physically to us within the Eucharist to be with us. He longs to spend time with us and just be in our presence. He is the one moving in our midst and helping us along our day when we are stress. And He constantly whispers into our hearts how much He loves us.
Having unique love languages is such a beautiful thing. We are all and expression of God's love.
